But Josh, and his siblings, have decided to make it a "good day" instead, by holding a fundraising event for Can Assist Bathurst, which provided years of support as Ash battled Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Can Assist Bathurst supported Ash, his wife and young family by paying for medical and treatment bills, car registration, power bills, phone bills and more, according to Ash's sister Mel.

In Ash's memory, she and her brothers have organised the Country Cruisin' For Can Assist event, which will be held on Sunday, April 28.
Car, bike and ute owners are being asked to shine up their vehicle and meet at the Rockabilly Cafe in Keppel Street for coffee and donuts at 10am for a cruise to Portland leaving at 10.30am. There, a barbecue lunch, raffle and silent auction will be held at the Coronation Hotel.
Mel said Ash was only 37 when he died last year.
"Can Assist were really good when he was sick," she said.
She is hoping local businesses will get on board and make donations for the fundraising event's raffle.
All money raised will go directly to Can Assist Bathurst to help Bathurst people battling cancer.
