On Friday night at the Bathurst Paceway, the annual Gold Crown Carnival drew to a conclusion.
Across the four big finals there were records clocked, stunning bursts of speed and brilliant driving that wowed the spectators.
Then on Saturday at Carrington Park, rugby league fans took in the NRL clash between the Melbourne Storm and Penrith Panthers.
Bathurst Panthers also kicked off their Group 10 rugby league title defence and while missing enigmatic skipper Doug Hewitt, still managed to down the Blayney Bears.
