John Weeks confirmed as new head of college at Scots All Saints

John Weeks spent almost 15 years as the head of Knox College in Sydney before stepping down at the end of term one in 2018.

For the past 18 months he has been a key figure in the merger of The Scots School and All Saints' College, working in a consultancy capacity and taking the lead on crucial staffing decisions, school leadership structures and the movement of staff and students between the two main campuses as part of the integration process.

Mr Weeks has recently reviewed all aspects of boarding at Scots All Saints.

His appointment was announced to parents and the local media this morning and he will start officially start in his new role from July 1, taking over from the merged college's foundation headmaster David Gates.

Mr Gates will have spent 18 months as the headmaster of Scots All Saints, following seven years at the helm of The Scots School.

Scots All Saints College council chairman Hamish Thompson welcomed the appointment of Mr Weeks, saying he was the "natural choice".

"The college council agreed given his detailed understanding of the school's development to this time, his vision for the future and his extensive experience in school leadership, Mr Weeks was well-placed to implement the next stage of development focused on academic excellence, student wellbeing, boarding, international education and enhanced opportunities for students through exciting co-curricular activities," Mr Thompson said in a letter to parents.

"Mr Weeks will continue in his consultancy role throughout Term 2 in preparation for the start of Term 3 when he will effectively take up his position as Head of College."

During his time at Knox Grammar, a Uniting Church day and boarding school with 3300 students over three campuses, Mr Knox oversaw a major rebuilding program and the introduction of Positive Education Schools Australia, a national body promoting the research and application of positive psychology for student wellbeing.
