IT'S rare that Bathurst City go two games without a win in women's Premier League Hockey but doing so without finding a goal is almost unheard of.

That's the unfortunate scenario that's played out for the Bathurst side to start their 2019 after CYMS inflicted a 4-0 loss on them in Saturday's meeting at Cooke Hockey Complex.
City had gone down 4-3 to CYMS in a thrilling minor semi-final last year and a result like that promised another excellent encounter over the weekend.
Unfortunately for the Bathurst side the had no answers for the Orange side in defence as they carried on where they left during 2018's finals series.
The loss for City follows on from round one's 1-0 defeat to Souths.
It's not all doom and gloom for a City team bringing through a lot of promising younger talent into their ranks.
City club member Jill Long said there's no better experience for those rising talents than by playing them against some of the Central West's top hockey talent.
"We were without Kelly Baker, Alison Wilson and Reita Holmes but we are in a rebuilding stage and I thought that the girls who were there played very well," she said.
"We're not panicking, not when we're rebuilding. There's some very young players in there and we're going to keep developing them like every club has to do."
Long said City were unfortunate not to get themselves on the score sheet.
"We had our chances. We just didn't take them, much like the Souths game," she said.
"We should have a few players back for the next game. A few of them are on masters commitments but hopefully we'll have a few returning."
CYMS are riding high to start the season, adding to their 1-0 win over rivals Orange Ex-Services from round one.
