Mr Gee has submitted an apology for the forum which has been organised as an opportunity for voters to engage with the candidates for Calare ahead of the federal election on Saturday, May 18.
"Our campaign runs on a pretty tight and well-planned and prepared timetable and because of the late notice for this forum and another commitment in a different part of the electorate I am unfortunately unable to attend," Mr Gee said in a statement.
"I've already been to the main candidates' forum in Bathurst and in organising that one the CPSA gave plenty of notice. I was told of it weeks in advance, then as soon as the election was called a date was confirmed.
"My office got an email about this latest forum only last Tuesday afternoon and before we could discuss dates, we got an email on Wednesday morning telling us they were already locked in.
"I've got an office here in Bathurst and I've been putting in a fair amount of time on pre-poll so I'm here on the ground and for those that weren't at the CPSA forum, there are plenty of opportunities to come and have a chat between now and polling day."
Tonight's forum has been organised by convenor Stuart Driver who will also run a forum in Orange tomorrow night.
The Bathurst forum will be at Bathurst Panthers from 7.30pm tonight [Wednesday].
Entry is free and there will be an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions from the floor.
Mr Driver confirmed he had been told Mr Gee would be an apology.
"This is not withstanding that his office was approached in late April and given an opportunity to have input into a date that would be suitable for him," Mr Driver said.
"... The primary contenders for the seat - Labor's Jess Jennings, Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party's Sam Romano with Stephen Bisgrove of the Liberal Democrats have all confirmed for both forums [Bathurst and Orange].
"It is anticipated that there will be a spokesperson for the Greens with their candidate absent from the electorate.
"There is still no word from the Untied Australia Party's Beverley Cameron as to her intentions. The Christian Democrats candidate is 'not actively campaigning'."
