They gave it their all but the Giants, who finished with no substitutes, couldn't stop the Panthers from picking up their first win of the season in a 10-12-72 to 7-13-55 result.
Mitch Taylor, Dave Manning, Tim French, Ryan Cooke, Aiden Macauley and Simon Kay were among those unable to make the trip to Parkes but the Giants who did travel certainly put up a fight.
Giants held a narrow 21 to 18 advantage at the first break but it was on either side of half-time where the Panthers began to creep clear.
The visiting Bathurst men did managed to narrowly outscore the Panthers in the fourth quarter, in a big showing for the team's fitness, but their lack of bench was telling.

Their inaccuracy also came back to bite, kicking six behinds in the final term but just picking up a single goal in that time.
Giants coach Mark Kennedy said the team could be proud of their efforts given player numbers weren't on their side.
"I don't normally like making that excuse but finishing with no-one on the bench on a big trip over there is tough," he said.
"A positive out of this game was that we've gained a new player, Steven Yiv, who's come over from Broken Hill. He's really enthusiastic and played out the full game for us.
"We won the last quarter and our guys were out on their feet, running across the paddock the whole day.
"Our opportunities to win it were there but our accuracy wasn't up there. We ended up kicking 13 behinds."
Paul Jenkins led the way for the Giants with four goals while Parkes' Aaron Halls led the way for his side with the same total.
Giants will be expecting to field a much stronger side for their Indigenous round contest against the Cowra Blues this Saturday at George Park 1.
