Transport for NSW is planning the refurbishment of the bridge as part of the NSW Government's country rail infrastructure program.
The work will be undertaken by contractor John Holland Rail.
"The refurbishment of the Russell Street bridge has been planned as part of annual maintenance on the country regional network," a spokesperson said.
"The refurbishment includes the installation of an access walkway within the rail corridor for rail staff and train drivers to access the bridge."
The full road closure will also be in place from May 24 to 27, with a detour via Rocket Street for motorists.
