He had a massive job ahead of him if he wanted to claim win and in the 13-lap finale, he put in one mighty effort to take the lead with two laps remaining to grab both his first round and race victory of the season.
Ojeda's victory in Victoria was helped by Zak Best's withdrawal from the race.
Best had won the first two races of the day, but after his car failed mid-race, the safety car was called, which benefited Ojeda massively.
"He started the third race in fifth, knowing that we had a quick car and a quick setup," team owner and Bathurst local Mick Anderson said.
"He picked them off one-by-one and got up to second but then there was a safety car. He then chased after the leader and got him with two laps to go.
"He's made a big leap forward, especially with the round win. He also got an extra point for the fastest lap of the weekend. A point might not look like much, but at the year it all adds up.
Ojeda had only picked up 27 and 20 points respectively in the first two races, but his win in the third gave him 60 points and the round win.
Anderson explained that while Ojeda performed well in the opening two races, little mistakes cost him.
"The first two rounds, he got a good start and was driving well," he said.
"The car was quick and got up to second in race one and two but in both races he dropped the wheel and made a little mistake. It put him back to fourth and fifth [respectively]."
The win for Ojeda now bumps him up to fourth in the championship standings, but he's still behind Hamish Ribarits, Broc Feeney and Zak Best in first, second and third respectively.
Ojeda and the Anderson Motorsport team will not be in action for over a month now, with the third round at the Queensland Raceway not until July 26 to 28.
This will be followed by two more rounds - The Bend Motorsport Park (August 23-25) and Sandown Recovery (September 20-22) - to conclude the season.
