It was always going to be tough outing for Western, but there were still plenty of positives after a difficult second day at the NSW PSSA Football Carnival for the team.

Western slumped to a 6-0 defeated to Mackillop in its first match of the day, followed by a 3-0 lose to Sydney South West and a 5-0 defeat to Combined Independent Schools (CIS) on a difficult day at Proctor Park.
Played in chilly conditions, Western coach Gary Jones said he was still proud of his team's performances, regardless of being outplayed in all three matches on Wednesday.
"They just didn't give up," he said.
"They've worked really hard defensively and the goal keeper has gone really well. I've been happy with them defensively.
"I could look at that last game and say, 'We shouldn't have let them score such-and-such'. But they kept going because sometimes what can happen when you're on the back foot all the time, you can drop your head. But they didn't drop their head and they kept going.
"I've got to take my hat off to them. I'm really impressed how they've gone."
The final game of the day for Western didn't start well, with Jai Rose getting a slight touch which was enough to put the ball into the goal and give CIS a 1-0 lead.
However, the scores remained unchanged throughout the rest of the half, with Western goalkeeper and Orange Primary School student Thomas Blowes making several key saves.
But CIS would run away with the game in the second half, scoring four more goals courtesy of Luka Wong (Newington Wyvern), Troy Megerditchian (Galstaun College), Cassius Kirton (Wyong Christian Community School) and Marco Capuano (International Grammar School).
The results from Tuesday and Wednesday leave Western second last in their group, but they still have a chance for one more win.
They'll compete in a play-off against the other sixth place team at 10.30am on Thursday morning.
The semi-finals will be held at 9.30am on field one and two at Proctor Park.
The final will be held at 12.30pm on field one.
