The six captains have very different ideas on how to tackle the big matches and one false move could make or break their chances of winning the big one. Let's have a look at the captain's form and their ideas on how they are going to steer there side to take that golden trophy.
STACEY MARKWICK
Not one of the most experienced captains but has the uncanny knack if peaking her players in the big matches. If Markwick gets her nose in front she will rally hard behind her side to get them over the line.
ROD SCHUMACHER
A very experienced captain who has steered many sides to grand final glory. His side is struggling a little this preparation but Schumacher, like Bart Cummings was with his horses, peaks his players to perform there best when the pressure tennis is applied in the semis and finals.
ALLYSON SCHUMACHER
Like husband Rod is a very experienced captain who has the side to win the big one. The Iron Lady has the ability to understand her player's capabilities in the big matches against the tall poppy sides and will not be intimidated by the other captain's on-court tactics.
GARTH HINDMARCH
Garth is a very strong-minded captain who reads the play well. His side is a very committed outfit who are playing well above there ability. Hindmarch's ideas are very different from the other captains which have them guessing at all times in their matches. Garth will have his players primed and in peak form when the semis and finals arrive, you can guarantee that.
JOHN BULLOCK
One of the most respected captains in this competition, this captain has been around as long as vegemite, and has on record, captained a side to one of the biggest grand final victories in the clubs history 11 sets to one. The other captains tread very carefully against old slugger Bullock as his trump card is his main weapon that upsets his rival sides come crunch moments.
BARRY LINDSAY
A captain who knows how to get the best out of his players when the chips are down. Lindsay has played in many grand finals and will have his players fight right till the end of there matches. Grooming your players to peak at the right time in matches is a hard task, but Lindsay has the uncanny knack of doing just that.
An appraisal of the captains on a scale as of one is least expected to take out that coveted grand final trophy and ten as most likely to take it out is as follows: Stacey Markwick six; Rod Schumacher eight; Allyson Schumacher nine; Garth Hindmarch seven; John Bullock nine and a half; Barry Lindsay seven.
Meanwhile, bookies have Slugger Bullocks Tigers as hot favourites at 2-1, Iron Lady Schumacher's Eels 5-1, Hindmarch's Dragons 10-1, Rocket Schumacher's Roosters 15-1, Lindsays Rabbits 20-1, Markwick's Sharks 25-1.
Just how it plays out remains to be seen - will the favourites produce champagne tennis or will the tally poppies tumble? Well, folks another great round of tennis at the biggest little club in the west. Match conveyor Allyson Schumacher would like to remind all players that there will be no competition play this Saturday due to the long weekend but social tennis is still on.
Good Hitting.
