Judy Smith: Smith loves to attack the ball and has a good all-round game. If given room to move Judy is a very dangerous player. Smith has the uncanny knack of turning defence into attack in an instant in her matches.
Rod Schumacher: He hasn't been around as long as vegemite like Slugger Bullock but you could probably say as long as peanut butter. Schumacher of all the lefties has the most bite in his shots to upset his opponents. When the chips are down and the pressure tennis is applied, you can guarantee he will raise the bar and excel in his matches. His big topspin forehand and crafty net play is his main weapon. If his opponents drop they're to guard, Rod will pounce on you like a deadly rattle snack.
Percy Raveneau: This Leftie can destroy you in an instant with his brilliant forehand and powerful backhand. Raveneau on his day if fully focused has the ability to beat anyone that dares to come near him. Percy has in the past steered his sides to memorable victories and no doubt can do the same in this year's competition. JOHN
Bullock: We all know how long slugger Bullock has been around and we all know the other three lefties tread very carefully when up against the trump card king. Match fitness does play a big part in sluggers game but it's his mental game that has his opponents in all sorts of trouble.
It's like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get from him. The four lefties are all primed and ready to let loose if they make the big one. Club selector Graeme Stapleton believes the four left-handers in this competition hold a vital key to there teams success.
"Let's remember its a huge advantage to have a leftie in your side, but to have two in your side is a huge bonus. We have two lefties, Bullock and Raveneau in the same side, so it's going to be a big ask, not for just the other lefties, but the other opponents when they come up against them." Stapleton said.
This weeks round six looks to be a cracker of a one. Markwick's Sharks tackle Schumacher's Rabbits, Iron Lady Schumacher's Eels play Hindmarch's Dragons, with Slice King Lindsay's Rabbits up against the front runners in Slugger Bullocks Tigers. The tipsters believe it will be the week for upsets. Slice king Lindsay's Rabbits to upset the front runners in Slugger Bullocks Tigers, Hindmarch's Dragons to topple Iron Lady Schumacher's Eels and Markwick's Sharks to beat Rocket Schumacher's Roosters.
Players are again reminded to be at the courts this Saturday at 12.15pm for a 12.30pm start. Well, folks, I hope everyone had a fabulous long weekend and that this week's blockbuster round of tennis at the biggest little club in the west will have that magical touch of champagne tennis. I will leave you with my quote of the week." It's not all about winning it's about playing tennis in the true spirit of the game. To be a great winner you have to be a gracious loser." Good Hitting.--
