After a vendor was spotted on the road running beside the standpipes on Hereford Street, Bathurst Regional Council has reminded people it was designed for the benefit of water carters only.
"There is no approval in place for vendors to set up on Hereford Street, nor would council grant an approval," a council spokesperson said.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
"Roadside sellers can only locate where there is an existing Development Consent in place for commercial activity. An example would be the forecourt area of a service station.
"The only lawful option for another location is proposed in the draft policy, which is currently on exhibition."
The draft Street Vending and Roadside Stalls policy would lift a ban on the practice during major race events.
