The Ration Challenge is held annually and encourages Australians to eat like a refugee for a whole week to raise much-needed funds for families threatened by conflict and disaster overseas.
Ms Blackford has participated in the challenge for the past two years and joined the initiative as a show of support for refugees displaced by the ongoing Syrian Civil War.
"People in refugee camps may have fled the war, but they still struggle to have enough food or a safe place to rest," she said.
"I think every person deserves access to adequate food and shelter and this challenge is worth it in order to helps improve the lives of those who have lost so much."

The Ration Challenge has been running since 2014 and has raised more than $10 million to support refugees around the world.
Ms Blackford raised $1200 through her participation in the challenge last year and hopes to build on that amount this year.
"It can be a tough challenge, but it's important to remember the reason why you're doing it," she said.
"One week is nothing when you consider the bigger picture."
