The Mitchell Men suffered their first loss of their 2019 campaign at the hands of a big Narromine Gorillas pack, after going undefeated in the first eight games of the season.
Conyers said last week's loss to Narromine wasn't as bad as the 50-10 scoreline suggested.
"We made a mistakes in a few crucial areas that gave them some easy points but we didn't play that bad," he said.
"We had to tackle for about 75 per cent of the game and you look at the tries they scored, they were largely off their dominant lineout and phase plays close to the line.
"Most of the tries they scored were 10 plus phase possessions. That just gives you an idea with how much tackling we did do and I'm really impressed with it, even though we let in eight tries."
Conyers said his team trained well on Tuesday.
"We trained really hard and I think the boys will have their head back on the job," he said.
"We just need to find a way to counter their size and their experience. That's a big thing. We've got plans in place to counter that."
CSU welcome Parkes to Mitchell on Saturday, a team they defeated 13-0 at the Boars' ground earlier this season.
As Parkes don't have a second grade side, Conyers said that'll be an advantage.
"We'll have a full 22-man fresh squad for kick-off," he said.
"We've got several injuries from last weekend and three or four more available players with uni holidays and exams.
"It's been a bit disrupted but luckily we have one the easier team. Well not necessarily easy, as we only won 13-0 up there.
"I've got confidence that the boys will do well."
CSU will be without winger Harry Hunt, injured forward Sean Pianca and scrumhalf Charlie Mansfield, who will be at a wedding.
Kick-off between second-placed CSU and the fifth place Parkes Boars will be at 2pm, after the visitors requested an earlier start.
The CSU women side will play Orange Emus prior to kick-off.
