Bulldogs had to come from seven points behind at one stage to take a sweet victory, probably their most significant of the year so far.
This season has been a rollercoaster ride for Verdelho but coach Anita van Dartel has been proud of the way her team have composed themselves no matter what challenge has come their way.
"We've had an up and down season and our numbers have always been a problem. It's been hard to get a set team going but the girls never stop trying and they always do me proud," she said.
"I love how they conduct themselves on the court and they play in the spirit of the game.
"We were down over the first half and I think they were surprised by that since we were playing an A reserve team. They might have been relaxed going in but they were able to turn it around.
"We were down seven points in the first quarter and still down five points in the second quarter so they've done a really great job. I'm proud of them."
Verdelho have battled hard for their latest two wins in the competition, victories which have taken them to 18 points - two clear of both Panthers Agriwest and Scots All Saints College.
The Bulldogs can't fall any lower than fourth because the chasing Agriwest and SASC play each other this Saturday.
The unbeaten Collegians Mystified and Panthers A grade sit in first and second respectively, well clear of the pack.
On Saturday Mystified were too strong for CSU in a 64-26 win while the Panthers A grade team got the better of clubmates Agriwest 61-34.
In the day's remaining game Panthers Toshacks defeated Bulldogs Hurricanes 34-25.
SASC were winners via forfeit over Mana, which sets up a huge meeting with Agriwest this Saturday.
Collegians and Panthers A Grade will also meet in the concluding round, before the competition is split in two the following weekend.
