BATHURST Regional Council appears to be going the extra mile to ensure that nothing disrupts the winter festival, or the day-to-day running of the city over that time.

Parade spotted some construction work going on at the intersection of Russell and George streets on Wednesday night.
The work started in the late afternoon and well after 7pm the crews were still there getting the job done.
Parade imagines the work wasn't connected to the festival itself, but rather that council had decided to get the work out of the way at a time when the area was going to be closed off anyway.
And by doing the work at night, there were fewer people affected by another temporary road closure that was put in place on the other side of Russell Street.
Looking at the site on Thursday morning, all the work appeared to be done before the central business district came to life again.
Parade was certainly pleased to see less disruption, particularly after some other major roads around Bathurst were affected by roadworks at the same time recently.

COUNCILLOR Jess Jennings has been inspired by a more metropolitan council which has embraced Facebook Live.
That council uses the social media tool to engage with its residents and share information.
Cr Jennings thought it was something that Bathurst's council could be doing, which raises the question, do residents want that?
Parade would be interested to know people's thoughts on the idea, because it would be quite a different step for Bathurst and potentially one not worth the effort staff would have to put into it.
Would you tune in to council's Facebook Live videos?
