After John Sandra stepped down as a practice owner of Russell Street Medical Centre from July 1, the remaining owners Hal Rikard-Bell and Colin Jamieson welcomed the practice owners of Busby Medical Practice: Louis McMahon, Atma Rana and Sarah Koffman.
The plan is to ensure that a general practice owned and managed in Bathurst and where its owners and doctors live and work in the community they serve.
The practice owners are committed to a continuation of its family practice that has been the cornerstone of the two general practices for many generations.
And while the five owners will co-own the two general practices, they will keep their separate entities and maintain their independent characteristics, clerical and nursing staff.
The joining together of owners will offer some synergies of management and that includes dealing with the many bureaucracies including Medicare, general practice registrar training organisations and medical manpower issues necessary in running a general practice.
Most of the anticipated changes will be occurring behind the scenes with the hope it will be business as usual for the two general practices and its staff and patients.
