Emergency services were called to the scene on Cooper Crescent about 12.15pm, where firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.
Bathurst Fire Station leading firefighter Greg Craft explained that the occupants of the house had evacuated by the time emergency crews had arrived.
"On arrival, we had smoke and flame from the front of the house and down the right hand side," he said.
"Crews entered and extinguished the fire and have done a great job in getting it under controlled.
"The occupants - a mother and two children - had already evacuated the building and they're all okay."
Firefighters are yet to determine the cause of the fire and are also unsure where the fire started.
Thick smoke was billowing from the home, which could be seen from the CBD of Bathurst and out at Kelso, with firefighters, police and ambulance crews all on scene.
Children at Goodstart Early Learning were also self-evacuated by staff, before police aided them as they headed down to Police Paddock to avoid the smoke.
Cooper Crescent is a relatively new residential street that runs off Upfold Street, near the Kennerson Park greyhound track.
