The headspace Cup has been running for the past three years, with clubs in the Bathurst District Football (BDF) helping raise funds for headspace, a non-profit organisation dedicated to helping individuals suffering with mental health issues.
On Saturday and Sunday, CSU club officials will be collecting donations and will also be running the canteen, with headspace having a marquee set up on the day.
Last year $13,000 was raised and CSU secretary Tom Murray is hoping to better that in 2019.
"Realistically we'd like to raise $10,000 but we'd love to better last year's total," he said.
"On the weekend, we'll encourage anyone in the community to come down and put whatever money they can spare in the tin and watch a bit of soccer.
"The money we get for running the canteen will also go to headspace."
And while fundraising is the key element of the weekend, there's also the actually cup that will be on offer to either CSU or BDF.
When CSU plays another BDF club, points will be offer - three for a win, one for a draw and zero for a loss - and whoever has the most points at the end of the weekend will win awarded the headspace Cup.
BDF have the current bragging rights, having won last year's cups and having won two of the first three editions.
Mr Murray said mental health is an important issue for everyone, not just university students.
"It's a problem that we face a university a lot but it's an issue that affects anyone, so we want to give back and help those affected," he said.
He said that players will be wearing green sweat bands, with players previously wearing a different novelty item in years gone by to mark the occasion.
Several BDF clubs have already donated money to the cause - Bathurst City Red Tops, Bathurst '75, Bathurst Athletic and Macquarie United - bringing the total raised to $1600 as of Wednesday morning.
