The free public lecture is held every two years by Bathurst Regional Council and Bathurst District Historical Society in memory of revered local historian Theo Barker.
Ms Hickson's lecture, entitled Let's Do Heritage Differently, will discuss the current climate of heritage-listed properties and how to further develop the understanding of their significance.
"Many people who own a heritage-listed item aren't always appreciative of their structure's historical significance," she said.
"If we change our approach towards promoting an item's heritage, it could encourage owners to develop a stronger sense of pride for their property."
The lecture will get under way from 6.30pm. For more information, visit www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au.
