IN response to Dianne Blazley (letter, August 16) regarding train services to Bathurst, I personally love the XPT train service which operates between Sydney and Dubbo return and would hate to see the service replaced with a train similar to the Bathurst Bullet.

The XPT staff are fantastic and the carriages/seats are far more comfortable than what is offered on the Bullet.
The scheduled times of the XPT complement what is offered by the Bullet. Being able to leave Sydney at 7.18am to get to Bathurst mid-morning is great, as is travelling to Sydney after work in the afternoon.

Dianne may not use the dining car, but there are many (including me) who sit and relax with a cuppa and scones while enjoying the countryside.
The XPT has been servicing country NSW for over 30 years and I hope it is around for many years to come.
