Traffic and Highway Patrol Command officers said the offence occurred at 11am on Tuesday on the Mitchell Highway at Lucknow, between Bathurst and Orange.

Police will allege the male motorist from Orange was detected travelling at 153km/h in a 100km/h zone.

Police officers issued an infringement notice to the motorist for driving at more than 45km/h above the speed limit.

The driver was also issued with a licence suspension notice and the number plates were confiscated.
