AN overnight fire that destroyed a car and damaged two homes is under investigation by police.
Fire and police crews were called to a property on Rocket Street at 3.32am on Tuesday following reports of a car fire.
Fire and Rescue NSW Station Officer Doug Fisk said when crews arrived a Holden Commodore was "fully involved" in fire.
"We received reports that a car next door was alight, it was in the driveway with its nose into the carport," he said.
"The roof of the carport had caught alight and it was starting to get into the roof of the house.
"It started to burn under the eaves. If we were there a couple of minutes later it'd be a very different story."

Station Officer Fisk said the occupants of the home were unaware of the blaze outside.
"We had to go in and wake them up," he said.
Station Officer Fisk said it appears the car was deliberately lit on fire and this spread to the carport and roof.
"The police found a petrol can up the road and it had burn marks on it," he said.
The blaze caused heat damage to the home where the car was parked as well as a neighbouring property.
Meanwhile Station Officer said the initial report about the fire was made by calling the fire station directly, rather than by calling triple-0.
This, he said, causes delays as firefighters are then obliged to call their communications centre and report the fire themselves.
"In the time it would have taken for them to look up the fire station number, it would have been quicker to call triple-0," he said.
