Bernie Hewitt's mare may have only taken one win from her eight Albion Park starts but she was rarely far away from the front, and that's form which bodes well for her return home.
She'll need every bit of her best form too.
Wednesday's BHRC Awards Night 25 October Pace (2,260 metres) is a small but talented field of top-class country runners.
The free-for-all graded event has Royal Story going out from gate six, with Steve Turnbull's Modern Maestro on her inside and Gemma Rue's Fouroeight.
Hewitt said the win and three straight runner-up finishes for Royal Story during the Queensland campaign last month was a fair result.
"She was very consistent up there but she wasn't quite right. She had a few issues going on and she ended up staying there a bit longer than we thought she would," he said.
"We were still quite happy with her. She's had a freshen up and some treatment."

Royal Story enters as the second highest graded runner in the event, narrowly behind the in-form Fouroeight.
Rue's horse won three races in a row across Young, Bathurst and Cowra before finishing a close second in his latest start.
He'll be the one to catch in Wednesday's race.
Hewitt said it's great seeing a strong field taking to the track.
"It's great having these free-for-all races. In the old days we used to have them all the time but these days they don't have as many, they try and funnel them to Menangle," Hewitt said.
"It's that time of year where there's not a lot of action but as things move further into spring and races like the Shirley Turnbull Memorial get closer you'll be seeing more of these sorts of races.
"Mat and Gem's horse will be really hard to beat. My mare might still be a run short. I think she'll run pretty well though and I was happy with her work on Sunday."
The BHRC Awards Night 25 October Pace is the sixth race at the meeting, which has its opening event starting from 5.30pm.
