One of the most popular events in the Central West is back once again. The 2019 Bowyer and Livermore Rockley Rodeo will take place on October 19, and the committee have been working hard to make this event a huge success. Many hours of work have gone into the rodeo, both on the grounds and organising the day, and the crowd is sure to benefit from plenty or action and entertainment.

Inside the arena, Matt Besant (bulls) and Rick Wilson (horses), have provided some top quality stock with plenty of champions among them, guaranteeing some spectacular rodeo action. Events on the day include the Fitzpatrick Hay and Silage Memorial Feature Bullride, Saddle Bronc, Bareback, Novice Bullride, Barrel Race and many junior events.
In the Feature Bullride the aim is to stay on the back of a 1000 kilogram, bucking bull for eight seconds, and while you could say it is dangerous, the cowboys love it and they love the crowd cheering them on. While it's tough on the cowboys, the bull fighters have the most difficult job on the day. Their aim is to keep the riders safe and the bull fighters put their lives on the line to get the cowboys away from the beast.
Outside the arena, the usual public bar, food, market stalls and kids rides will be on offer, including a jumping castle and a mechanical bull with the mechanical bull open for both the adults and kids. The Miss Rockley Rodeo Competition will be held again with different sections for different ages, and there will also be a raffle drawn on the day. Prizes have been donated by Bathurst Mowerland and Heating, Watermart and Rockley Public School, and include a Weber Barbeque, Water Pure Mix and a $50 Bunnings voucher. Tickets for the raffle can be purchased on the day and are just $2 each or 3 for $5.
This year the rodeo is supporting Macquarie Lions Club who will be handling the front gate duties, while the Rockley Public School will be in charge of the raffle and the Bathurst Lions Club will be cooking up a feast on the barbeque. Of course none of this would be possible without a hard-working committee.

The Rockley Rodeo Committee is only a small committee made up of a few families but it is a very hard working one. The annual rodeo would also not take place without the generosity of all sponsors and supporters involved, especially during the trying times for everyone with the weather and the drought.
Gates open for the Bowyer and Livermore Rockley Rodeo at 8.00am, with the main event starting at 12.00pm. Entry is $35 for families. $15 for adults, $10 for pensioners and children with those under five years of age free. The rodeo is again this year part of Southern Zone and promises to be a great day of family entertainment. For more information visit Rockley Rodeo's Facebook page.
