Horticulturist and award-winning gardener Dhyan Blore is presenting a series of workshops at Rahamim Ecology Centre for home gardeners. Topics covered include caring for plants in dry times, maximising water in gardens and plants and the importance of mulch. Workshops will be held at 10am on October 24; 2pm on November 2; 10am on November 11 and 19; 10am on December 4 and 11; and 2pm on December 7. Household Chemical CleanOut, for residents to safely dispose of household chemicals, will be held at the Cooke Hockey Complex on Sydney Road from 8am-4pm. Visit www.epa.nsw.gov.au.
Drug and Alcohol Info Hub is at Bathurst Library. Residents are invited to join Bathurst Library staff at the hub from 3pm for literary mocktails and to take part in activities such as a standard drink pouring competition and a beer goggle demonstration. National Cool Climate Wine Show public tasting will be held at Panthers Bathurst.
Bathurst Garden Owners' Club will hold the Spring Spectacular this weekend. Ten inspirational gardens in and around Bathurst will be open and there will be live music, art and sculptures.
Sunday, October 27
Bathurst Regional Council invites grandparents and anyone who takes on the role of a grandparent to spend quality time together with their grandchild exploring and participating in a range of activities at Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum to celebrate Grandparents' Day. The event will be held from 11am to 1pm. Entry, activities and morning tea will be free of charge for grandparents accompanied by their grandchild.
Community Tree Planting Day. The Rehabilitation of the Macquarie River Riparian Corridor project is in full swing with native trees and shrubs already planted along the Macquarie River. Why not grab the family and join us at our Community Planting Day on Sunday, October 27 October from 10am at the Baillie Street open space (corner of Havannah Street and Sydney Road-Kendall Avenue). Council will also have a free barbecue lunch afterwards. Artist and OAM recipient Graham Lupp will present a free public lecture, "Building Bathurst - the school on the hill", at 12.30pm on Saturday, November 16 at St Stanislaus' College as part of the Stannies Art and Technology Show. Afternoon tea will be provided. Mr Lupp, author of the acclaimed two-volume art-history publication Building Bathurst -The Story of those who built Bathurst and Central NSW, 1815-1915, will discuss the story behind the design and architecture of the buildings of St Stanislaus' College.
