Mayor Bobby Bourke and key council staff met with Minister for Water Melinda Pavey, local member Paul Toole and other NSW Government representatives on Wednesday in hopes of further conveying why Bathurst needs more funding.
Cr Bourke said the delegation was in discussions with Ms Pavey and her team for close to an hour, and then later had brief discussions with Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Deputy Premier John Barilaro.
Council has already received a combined $4.25 million for water projects from the NSW Government, but it is hoped they will pledge more towards projects that work is almost ready to start on, like the Winburndale pipeline and stormwater harvesting.
Speaking to the Western Advocate, Cr Bourke said the discussions were positive.
"We had a great discussion and [Ms Pavey] already knew where I was coming from, that we wanted to stay ahead of other councils," he said.
He expects that the NSW Government will make a decision on council's requests and report back within a fortnight.

On Wednesday, Ms Pavey congratulated council for the leadership it has demonstrated on water security.
"Bathurst Regional Council understands we are facing the worst drought on record and must work together to find solutions to extend supply and guarantee jobs," she said.
Although council has been knocked back on water security requests before, Cr Bourke is remaining positive that it will receive the $20 million it's seeking now.
"Our council directors and staff are doing an excellent job, I feel confident that we are going to get that extra funding," he said.
"I'm not really looking at alternatives, but if they say no like they did with the water allocation, then we will go to the next step."
He added that being told no wouldn't stop council lobbying for support.
