Skillset staff conducted a blitz of businesses in Bathurst on Thursday to launch Skillforce 500, in which the organisation will aim to engage 500 people across the Central West in employment, education or skills development by March 31, 2020.
It was Skillforce 360 last year, but Skillset bettered that target by almost 70 people, so a more ambitious goal was needed.

Skillset staff explained to Bathurst businesses how they could be involved with the campaign and the benefits to the region.
"This campaign is about keeping skills local, fostering skills development opportunities for people and keeping these people employed within our local communities," Skillset general manager Jane McWilliam said.
She said businesses could get involved in a number of ways.
"Businesses can pledge their support by simply helping us display our campaign material, pledge work experience opportunities for high school students or identify skills gaps and consider placing an apprentice, trainee or new resource," she said.
"If we all band together, we have the potential to benefit thousands of people in our communities."
Skillset staff also took to the streets in Dubbo, Mudgee and Orange.
