This very letter would not be in public view if it weren't for these fundamental principles that we sometimes take for granted.
In the past few weeks, we've seen various organisations and MPs engage in rhetoric, including our federal member, Andrew Gee.
In "#RightToKnow campaign: MPs and Senators have their say" on the Western Advocate website, Mr Gee expresses his support, saying: "A free press is a fundamental principle of our democracy. It's always been that way and always should be."

Unfortunately, Mr Gee hasn't always expressed himself this way.
On November 12, 2018, ABC's Media Watch program highlighted Mr Gee's dealings with the "free press".
After an unfavourable report from earlier that week, Prime 7 News were not invited to Mr Gee's announcement of the relocation of the Regional Investment Corporation to the Central West. Prime's CEO Ian Audsley described Mr Gee's actions as an attempt to "hijack democracy".
And it's not just Mr Gee. As a future first-time voter, I find it very disturbing to see the the government riddled with hypocrisy - not only on a national level, but local too.
