Will Curtin, Carla Grimm, Zannah Jennings, Layla Bynon, Cody Henry, Jaxon Burton, Jack Bell and Jamie Jones will all represent the Diocese of Bathurst Catholic Schools in the Polding team, after being selected for the sides at the NSW Catholic Schools Polding Championships in October.
Curtin and Jones are age champions and they're both expected to lead the way for the competing Holy Family athletes according to school principal Kevin Arrow.
"Our Holy Family athletes have enjoyed their competitions this year and they will compete in both track and field events," he said.
"They have a good sense of sportsmanship, and a healthy competitive attitude.
"Will Curtin is in the 10 years 100 metre event. He won that event at the Polding carnival, so he's probably the most successful of the team.
"Jamie Jones, she's a 10-year-old as well. She got second in the final of the 200 metre at the Polding level. That puts her in stead.
"Our Holy Family athletes will also make a boys relay team and a girls relay team because both our school relay teams finished second in the final at Polding, so that's how they got through."
Arrow said the eight athletes have worked extremely hard, progressing through four previous carnivals to qualify for the championship at Homebush.
"They have worked hard because they've gone through school level, then there was a regional carnival, then a diocese carnival, then the Polding carnival and now they're going to state," he said.
"They've progressed through five levels, so to get to a PSSA carnival is pretty good and it's a big carnival.
"'We wish our athletes well at the Polding Carnival and hope they put in personal best efforts in their events. Success at Homebush will mean participation at the state PSSA athletics later in the year."
The track events will be held on the Wednesday, while the field events will be held on Thursday.
There are 14 teams participating in the NSW PSSA Primary Athletics Championship, with Polding one of two Catholic teams, the other being MacKillop.
Combined Independent Schools (CIS) is the only other non-region based team, with the remaining 11 teams Hunter, North West, South Coast, Sydney North, Sydney West, North Coast, Riverina, Sydney East, Sydney South West, Western (which Bathurst is a part of) and Barrier.
