This year, Year 12 MacKIllop College student Yulina Collins has rewritten her school's history books, after her HSC works were shortlisted across three subjects, including art, music and design technology.
Yulina said she was shocked when she heard the news.
"I was not expecting that at all," she said.
Among her works chosen for consideration are a sound reactive lamp she made in design, three self portraits she painted for art, and her violin performance she did for music.
Incredibly, she only picked up music in Year 12.
She said out of the three, the self portraits were probably the hardest to do.
"I think when you paint yourself you keep trying to fix yourself up," she said.
Principal Steve Muller, said it was the first time he could recall a student being shortlisted across three subjects.
"It's incredibly hard to be nominated in even one," he said.
Mr Muller said Yulina was one of seven students studying Design and Technology to be short listed, and one of two in both Encore and Art Express.
"It shows the depth of talent at the school," he said.
