Bathurst proved unsuccessful at the first round of the Central West Inter-Club Triathlon Series at Mudgee on Sunday morning, but local athlete Tom Hanrahan did manage to win his age category.

Hanrahan, who was competing in the 30-39-year-old category, finished his triathlon in a time of 56 minutes and 10 seconds, a minute and 13 seconds quicker than Tim Guy, the Orange triathlete finishing second in the category.
Will Kelly was the second fastest Bathurst triathlete, followed by Jamie Rivett and Jeff Short in third and fourth respectively.
The overall male winner was Rory Thornhill from Orange, who finished just one second ahead of club rival Thomas Tudor. Thornhill's time was 51 minutes and 27 seconds.
Third also went to a Orange triathlete, in Jack Bilton, who finished 20 seconds off Tudor.
Jessica Richards was the fastest female triathlete, with the Orange entrant finishing in a time of one hour, one minute and three seconds.
The quickest Bathurst female triathlete was Danielle Patterson, who finished 17th and 53rd overall, in a time of one hour, 13 minutes and 48 seconds.
The next round of the Central West Inter-Club Triathlon Series will be in Bathurst, held on January 26.
That will be followed three other interclub events - Dubbo on February 9, then Orange on February 16 and finishing with Cowra on March 22.
