Maximum temperatures in Bathurst over the next few days will be up to 12 degrees Celsius above November averages - a scenario repeated across the Central Tablelands.
Bathurst got its first taste of the pre-summer heatwave on Tuesday as the mercury rose to 31 degrees, and the bureau is predicting even hotter days ahead.
On Wednesday we can expect a maximum of 34 degrees followed by 36 on Thursday, 35 on Friday and 33 on Saturday before falling back to 29 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
The long-term average November maximum for the Bathurst region is just 23.7 degrees Celsius.
Bureau of Meteorology NSW manager Ann Farrell said the hot weather would be felt in all areas of the state, except the coastal fringe.
"Along with the heat, gusty winds and wind changes from weak fronts ... will make conditions difficult for firefighters, with fire dangers expected to reach very high or severe in some districts, especially inland," she said.
NSW Health advises residents to plan ahead to be prepared for extreme heat.
Thy should stay indoors as much as possible during the heat of the day and stay well hydrated.
