Three Eyes Monks, featuring Andrew Lotherington on vocals/bass, Geoff Short on guitar and Tony Hope on drums, will perform a free afternoon of music at the Kings Hotel on Sunday, December 1, with all proceeds set to go towards the Black Dog Institute.
The Black Dog Institute is internationally recognised as a pioneer in the identification, prevention and treatment of mental illness.
"We've been jamming together for about a year and for our first gig, we wanted to do something a bit different from normal," Mr Lotherington said.
"There will be buckets to donate money on the day, as well as a raffle featuring some fabulous prizes."
The raffle prizes on offer include four C Bathurst Passes, a family pass to Jenolan Caves, a $100 camping chair from BCF and various others.
Mr Hope said the event will provide an opportunity for people to come together, enjoy some music and discuss mental health.
"Everyone has been touched by mental health and suicide in the past, and this event will be perfect for the whole family to get together and have a chat," he said.
"A lot of great musicians aren't with us anymore due to complications with mental health, and part of our setlist includes songs reflecting their legacy."
The band has launched a donations page online, setting a fundraising goal of $3000 for the Black Dog Institute.
Mr Lotherington hopes the gig will serve as a positive launch pad for future performances.
"We're hoping to inject more of a 90s rock edge to the covers scene in town, a change from the usual songs you hear at a pub such as 'Brown Eyed Girl' or 'Khe Sanh,'" he said.
"The Kings Hotel has been really supportive of the event, and we hope everyone can come and rock out with us."
The gig will get under way this Sunday from 2pm, going until 5pm.
