While I acknowledge that a Taco Bell would employ some local staff, it would do so at the expense of local cafes and restaurants.
In a similar manner to other fast food outlets it would be located on the highway and so avoid enticing tourists into our town.
The profits will leave Bathurst in the manner of all the others, and probably add to the growing number of vacant premises in town.
I will not go on to mention the poor nutritional value of fast food and its overall community health effects.

Let's entice travellers to take a break in the CBD
WON'T a fast food restaurant on Stewart Street encourage passers-by to pass by the food outlets in the CBD and on Keppel Street?
Don't we want tourists and travellers to come into our CBD?
We already have on Durham Street enough fast food places, in my view.
Maybe because I'm originally from the USA, I'm not too excited by more US chains arriving here.
