Saint Stanislaus' College combined all the right ingredients together to cook up an eight wicket victory over hosts Scots All Saints College in their ISA Cricket division one Bathurst derby on Saturday.
Sent in to bowl first, Stannies kept the pressure on SASC throughout the innings but the understrength hosts battled gamely to see out their 50 overs and post 6-146.
Jack Goodsell (46) and Blake Kreuzberger (45) put on 89 for the first wicket before Liam Cooke (29 not out) and Cooper Brien (23 not out) finished the job in the 34th over.
Stannies coach Tony Fisher said it was great to see a game where every bowler had reasons to feel satisfied with their performance.
"We had them at 1-29 at the 17 over mark, and that had a lot to do with Jack Goodsell and Riley Comerford bowling well. They tied them down. Ethan Muller bowled the best he'd done all year and he was unlucky not to have a wicket.
"Sean Donato picked up a couple of wickets and Timmy Powell got a wicket bowling leg spin. We fielded well and held our catches. It was a much improved effort from the last couple of games we'd had against St Pat's.
"When you chase a total like that it's tempting for the boys to think 'let's just chase this quickly' but they did really well. They pushed the field back a couple of times and Jack and Blake were happy to take the singles."
Goodsell had an all-round field day on Saturday as he bowled 1-15 from his nine overs, with four maidens.
Donato finished with 2-21 for Stannies while Muller was economical in his 0-29 off 10 overs.
SASC's Tom Siede toiled away for nearly two hours at the crease top score for his side with 39 runs, an innings which contained 73 dot balls.

Ben Cant (29) and Siede put on 63 runs for the second wicket but they struggled to pick up the run rate against a bowling attack that was sticking to the ideal line.
Jonah Siede was the best bowler for Scots All Saints with 1-6 from three overs.
Stannies had few stumbling blocks on their road to victory, a win that puts them back up to second on the ladder.
The question remains whether any team can put an end to St Patrick's College's winning run this season.
"I think if they played like that against Pat's then we would have been in the hunt," Fisher said.
"We haven't been in the hunt over those two games. The boys played with a different attitude on Saturday. I said to them to have a bit of fun out there and enjoy each other's company and that's what they did."
The match was a rescheduled fixture from November 23 since both team would have lost players to the Western Zone Colts Carnival.
