The award recognises an outstanding individual, group or organisation active in environmental conservation in the Bathurst region.
In 2019 the Jo Ross Award was presented to long-time Bathurst residents Norah and Daryl Taylor for their commitment to the local environment over more than six decades.
Daryl Taylor was a senior lecturer at Mitchel College of Advanced Education and later Charles Sturt University with a significant interest in environmental education and school nature organisations.

Norah Taylor was a school teacher and one-time deputy principal of the Bathurst Demonstration School, now Bathurst Public School.
She served as a councillor on Bathurst City Council and was instrumental in creating the Macquarie River recreational precinct. She was also involved in the campaign to give the elm trees on lower Bentinck Street a National Trust status.
Mrs Taylor was a mentor for a number of other female councillors including the late Mary Pryke, Jo Ross herself and Tracey Carpenter.
