From New Year's Eve until Australia Day, $1 from every Lion-owned beer [Iron Jack, Toohey's New, XXXX Gold] sold on tap will go towards the RSL Club's 'Shout for the Drought' campaign, raising funds for the CWA NSW's Disaster Relief Fund.
The RSL Club has set a fundraising goal of $25,000, and kick-started the campaign with a $10,000 donation last week.
"This drought is not going away, and we wanted to find a way to ensure our donation goes directly to the people who need it most," RSL Club president Ian Miller said.
"The CWA of NSW is a trusted organisation with a real connection to country people, and they have assured us that 100 per cent of the proceeds will go towards farmers and farming businesses."
General manager Peter Sargent said the RSL Club will also run a partner fundraising initiative for people who wish to make larger donations.
"Visitors can shout a virtual schooner by purchasing schooner stickers valued between $5 and $50," Mr Sargent said.
"The stickers are available from the front reception and will be placed on our 'Shout for the Drought' banner."
CWA NSW state executive committee member Helena Donaldson said each donation will go a long way.
"The fund has depleted quite a lot in recent months, so we welcome any assistance from the local community," Ms Donaldson said.
