Before anyone could even catch their breath after Patrick Cantlon ran a 16:35 to break Brandon Martin's long standing record on Saturday, Bevan Lord bettered that effort with a 16:28 in Wednesday's New Years Day event.
The visiting nXtGen team brought several elite junior athletes to Bathurst over the New Years' break and they've certainly left their mark on the city's weekly five kilometre event.
Lord beat Theo Christian (16:41) and Kobe Stewart (17:11) in his record run.
Belinda Martin came close to equalling her record-breaking women's performance from Saturday.
The former Edgell Jog top five finisher ran a 17:33 to finish just five seconds off her previous run.
Bathurst parkrun co-ordinator Jenn Arnold said another record run always looked likely with the calibre of athletes turning up on the first day of the year.
"When I saw Belinda Martin turn up again I knew we'd be in for a fast one, and she was there pushing the nXtGen boys along and that was great to see," she said.
"Dani Andres was there today, who was the Australia Day ambassador for Bathurst in 2018. He's got family here and he's run here quite a few times. He got a PB today as well."
Fellow parkrun co-ordinator Stephen Jackson added that the relatively fast Bathurst course around Peace Park is a great drawcard for visitors.
"We had 14 runners go under 20 minutes today and I can't recall that ever happening," he said.
"These visiting runners are seeing that Bathurst is a great place in country, not too far from the city, to come and have a hit out and our course is reasonably quick."
The event was part of a special 'double header', with Bathurst parkrun at 7.30am followed by Orange parkrun at 9.30am for anyone extra keen for a running fix.
Bathurst's Max Martinez had a great morning across both events.
He was the first home competitor across the line at Bathurst, bettering his personal best with a time of 17:25.
Martinez then went on to take out the Orange run in 20:17.
Nick North had a great battle with Martinez for the first Bathurst runner in their home event, with the latter holding on by just a second.
Andres was just 10 seconds behind Martinez in the Orange run to take the runner-up spot.
"There were 202 running here this morning and 153 over at Orange," Jackson said.
"Max Martinez got himself another PB. He didn't even know what parkrun was a couple of months ago," Arnold said.
Parkrun resumes from its regular Saturday 8am time.
