The latest exhibition is there to help build excitement around the upcoming 12 Hour race, which will be held at Mount Panorama from January 31 to February 2.
NMRM manager Brad Owen said that there will end up being about seven cars positioned throughout the museum for this exhibition, in addition to its usual collection.
There are five vehicles on display already, which started to arrive from the time of the Challenge Bathurst weekend at the end of November.
Among them are a replica of the race-winning 2012 Audi R8 LMS GT3. The original was destroyed in a crash during practice for the 2014 event.
The museum also has the Mercedes-Benz that won the 2013 race, a class-winning 2005 Subaru Impreza RX that was raced by Bathurst drivers in 2009 and 2010, and the 2002 Bathurst 24 Hour winner.
The Holden Monaro 427C that won the second and last 24 Hour race at Mount Panorama in 2003 was on display at the museum last year and will return in the coming weeks.
"It might not be the first time since 2003, but it'll be one of the only times that the two cars have been together," Mr Owen said.
The museum also plans to have the 2019 Bathurst 12 Hour winning Porsche on display, with it set to arrive next week.
Mr Owen expects the vehicles in the new exhibition will be quite popular when the 12 Hour fans arrive.
"We know that the crowd for the 12 Hour may want to see the cars that they're seeing on track, and next year is the 10th running of the event for GT3 cars, so we thought it was a great opportunity to get a bunch of GT3 and other class cars together to showcase that history," he said.
People are encouraged to come see these cars while they can, as all of them are on loan and will only be at the museum for a limited time.
The NMRM is open seven days a week, from 9am until 4.30pm daily.
Due to road closures during major Mount Panorama race events, like the 12 Hour, the museum is accessible to race ticket holders only at those times.
