Dennis clocked the best lap of the 2019 Bathurst 10 Hour shootout, a 2:02.4946 flyer in the R-Motorsport Aston Martin. While he was later stripped of the Allan Simonsen Pole Trophy due to a technical breach, it is still a moment he cherishes.
That is why Dennis, who went on to place second in last year's 12 Hour, wants another crack at the shootout this year.
"I would love to get into Superpole [the shootout] again ... just to experience a lap at Bathurst by yourself is one of kind," he said.
"The flow from corner to corner is just perfect, the walls being so close and the speed we take them is sensational.
"The first few laps you do at the start of the weekend are very daunting. But when you attack them for qualifying you have to put all that aside and just go for it. Skyline is probably the most challenging corner.
"The car becomes super light over the crest and if you overcook it on entry the rear wheels come off the ground it feels like. So getting the balance is very difficult."

This year Dennis forms part of the two-car R-Motorsport bid for glory and will share the wheel of the #62 Aston Martin Vantage with dual Bathurst 1000 Rick Kelly and two-time 24 Hours of Daytona victor Scott Dixon.
"Having two experienced guys with me in the car is amazing and overwhelming," he said.
"I can't wait to start working with them and learn things off them. It's a strong line up and I'm very excited to get things started there."
Bathurst 12 Hour qualifying runs from 12.40pm-2.05pm on Saturday afternoon at Mount Panorama, with the top 10 shootout to follow at 5.05pm.
