The Bathurst division one squad faced their toughest match of the competition so far when they edged past Dubbo 3-2 last Sunday to keep the unbeaten status intact.
Bathurst's Stephen McDonald was an emphatic 6 and 4 winner over Aaron Etchell, Wayne Boserio bounced back from a close loss the previous round by beating Mat Brown 3 and 2, while Justin Sutton scored a narrow one hole win over Dayne Gardiner.
James Chapple went down 3 and 2 to Anthony Kek while Reece Hodson took his match against Matt Gleeson to the 19th hole before he was defeated.
The likes of Forbes' John and Steve Betland plus an unbeaten Daniel Bayley present a big hurdle for Bathurst to clear if they're to hold onto the crown.
Hodson said there's confidence in the Bathurst camp that they can bring down Forbes - having done so on their way to last year's pennant - but they know it's going to take a big performance.
"Last week and this week was always going to be a tough two rounds against Dubbo and Forbes. Forbes have a really good side. We did well last year to beat them twice so they'll definitely want their revenge," he said.
"With the team that we've got, and the good form they're in, we can keep it rolling through to this weekend and we'll have a good chance."
Hodson said time on the Bathurst fairways has been crucial for teams throughout the pennants season, and it's making a difference on the day of competition.
"The boys have been playing consistent golf over the last few weeks and it's a credit to Matt [Barrett] at the pro shop who has allowed us to practice every Wednesday with the rest of the teams, and offered tips and advice," he said.
"It's great to see that the boys are keen and really want to win."
Earlier in the competition Bathurst recorded 4-1 wins over Cowra and Parkes to get their title defence off to an excellent start.
Forbes jumped past Bathurst to first place on the ladder after last Sunday's 5-0 hammering of Cowra, sending a big warning shot to the title holders.
Meanwhile in other games Bathurst's division two team recorded a 3-2 win, division three went down 2-3 and division four made it three victories from as many rounds with a 3-2 success.
