The Story Space will provide a chill-out zone where attendees can expect to have their thoughts provoked, minds soothed and stories listened to.
Programmed in tandem with the Kids Space, this area has a focus on connection and sharing.
Inland Sea of Sound is held on a site of deep spiritual significance for the local Wiradyuri. As a testament to the spirit of sharing both our pasts and our future the Story Space is designed to create a physical space for further sharing, between diverse individuals.
On Friday night you'll be able to catch Bathurst Poets as they share some of their spoken work from 6.45pm-7.30pm. Meet the poets afterwards and learn how you can get involved in performance poetry yourself.
On Saturday learn about beekeeping with Noreen Munson, who'll be on hand to teach littlies about the wonders of the apiary with a session called "Little Pollen Socks - Talking Bees" from 1.30-2:30pm..
Stick around for Wiradyuri Storytime at 3pm with artist Birrunga, a great moment to spend some quiet time with young ones and learn about local Wiradyuri culture.
From 3.45pm-4.30pm Jock Cheetham, CSU lecturer and director of the Bathurst Multicultural Storytelling Festival, will lead "How I Got Here". Come along and share a story or listen to others' stories, all within the theme of "How I Got Here".
The last session of the day at 4.45pm will be a Yarning Circle. Led by local Wiradyuri elders, it's a chance to reflect on things you might have experienced so far that day, explore your current emotional being or even to discuss your place on Wahluu. An open space, this is the perfect opportunity to experience a Yarning Circle if you haven't been a part of one before.
All of this action in the Story Space is in addition to other non-musical programming in the Kids Space. Before the Welcomes on both evenings drop the kids in for some yoga with Emma from Centred Yoga. Balance everyone's energies before the festival's night program and have some fun! Mats provided.
On Saturday morning make sure to get up to the festival when gates open at 11.30am to enjoy the musical styling of the OccaRockers before Lah Lah's Big Live Band hits the stage at 12.30pm.
The OccaRockers are O'Connell's finest young musical prodigies, hot off the back of a Band Night performance that had audiences clapping along and awed by their cute factor.
From 12.30pm-2.30pm drop in to learn some traditional weaving techniques with the Kelso Weaving Women's group, led by artist Selina Brandy.
From 3.30pm-5.30pm be inspired by the Australian Kiteflyer's display and join local artist and upcycler Fiona Howle in the Kids Space to make some Kite Bunting. Make your own kite bunting to fly on a string; the sky's the limit for your own artistic and musical expression on upcycled papers. Let Fiona help you drum up a stringed masterpiece to take home.
And of course do not miss 5 Angry Men and their presentation of The Bells. Performed on their specially designed rig this outdoor theatrical spectacle will be unlike anything you've seen before. These performances will follow a week of workshops with members of the local community.
Rest assured that littlies will be kept entertained by a range of free play activities and games in the Kids Space, a shaded and alcohol-free zone with fruit and water supplied.
Don't forget to take advantage of the special early entry ticket prices for adults accompanying kids on Saturday, the best way to make the most of these activities and then enjoy the music of headliners Missy Higgins, Mama Kin Spender and more.
