Backed at $2.40 odds, the two-year-old filly trained by Warwick Farm-based Bjorn Baker found the front within the first 100 metres of the Hothams Sand Soil and Gravel Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap (1108 metres) and never relinquished the lead, with jockey Greg Ryan in the saddle for the win.
Rose Sauvage ($3.70) and Papersissorsrock ($4.40) put up gallant efforts in the home straight, however, it was Hybrid Theory that would pull away ahead of the second and third-placing horses respectively.
Bjorn Baker Racing stablehand Kevin Hastings believes the filly has a good future ahead of herself.
"She was a bit green in the straight but I think she's got a good future," he said.
"The stable thinks she's got a good future too, so sky's the limit. I guess we'll see how she goes."
Hybrid Theory started from barrier eight and started reasonably well, but it was Rose Sauvage and Another Super ($61) that competed for the front in the opening 100 metres, before Hybrid Theory found the lead.
Competition was always on the filly's tail and the home straight made for a competitive finish, with Rose Sauvage and Papersissorsrock pushing hard, but Hybrid Theory pulled away in the last 200 metres to win in her maiden start at the Bathurst track.
Red Beryl ($5.50) took fourth, followed by Shades of Frisco ($15), Another Super, Chuisle ($41) and Exlite ($101) in fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth respectively.
And while Hybrid Theory may have claimed victory in her first race, Hastings believes the filly still has a bit to learn.
"She's got a bit to learn but she'll get there," he said.
"She'll just get some race education and experience.
"She travelled up well and trains on pretty well. She looks like she's pulled up well after the race."
The filly is by Brazen Beau x Belle's Ready and had two trials earlier this year - a sixth at Rosehill in January and a second at Randwick last Monday.
She also had a trial Kensington back in September last year, before going on an 18-week spell before returning to trialling.
Hastings is not sure of Hybrid Theory's next start will be, saying it'll be left up to Baker.
