With a free-spirited attitude and a determination to show off all their moves, Colts put in their best performance of the Bathurst Orange Inter District Cricket competition even though the spotlight was concentrated squarely on other matches during the final round.
And it was Henry Shoemark putting in the most eye-catching moves for the Colts as he blasted a century in very little time to take the team to first innings points against hosts Centrals.
If the rain stays clear it will give Colts an opportunity to claim their first outright win of the season but even if the rain sets in they can rest a bit easier knowing one thing: They won't win the wooden spoon.
"It was good to get a couple away. I've had a couple of 60s and 70s so it was nice to put one away finally," Shoemark said of his century.
"We had a bit of fun. It was a quick outfield and we had nothing to lose."
The late arrival of Colts is both disappointing and encouraging in equal measure for players.
On one hand it leaves the team wondering what could have been if such a performance came back in round one, where the warning signs emerged in a loss to Centennials Bulls, but it does give the club some hope for 2020-21.
"We've been waiting to fire all year and I think we got it into our heads to try and adapt to two-day cricket but sometimes it's better to just play your natural game, I guess," Shoemark said.
"We definitely tried to mix things up and it obviously hasn't come off very well for us.
"It's good to finish on a high though and know that we can do this. It makes us feel better about the start of next season."
Shoemark scored his 104 runs from 83 balls.
Team-mate Josh Toole showed similar fire with his 65 from 40.
If play goes ahead this Saturday then Colts will have a commanding 250 run lead over Centrals as they go after the outright victory.
"It would be nice to show our dominance on the game but it's one of those things. We've already won the game and we're not going to end up on the bottom of the ladder," Shoemark said.
Rain in the Colts-Centrals game has no implications for finals but other teams will be desperate to see play go ahead this Saturday.
Centennials, Rugby Union and Bathurst City will miss out on finals if their games end in draws.
It would see St Pat's Old Boys and CYMS hold onto third and fourth place respectively.
Cavaliers and Orange City, at this stage, look certain to play off in the major semi-final for the first ticket to the decider.
