Kennedy made the third appearance of his NRL career in Friday's match against South Sydney, lining up at fullback due to the absence of injured star Matt Moylan.
While the Sharks went down 22-18 at ANZ Stadium, Kennedy impressed coach John Morris with his performance.
With Moylan still around a month away from a return, Kennedy looks set to retain his spot as starting fullback.
"I was really happy with Will Kennedy, so that was one positive to come out of the game," Morris said.
"He [Moylan] just stirred up his calf, given that it was a repeated episode it adds 25 per cent recovery time. You can't rush it.
"He's probably [returning in] round five or six hopefully."
Kennedy's 65th minute try assist for Sione Katoa was the highlight of his performance on Friday night.
Running onto a Shaun Johnson pass, he burst through an attempted tackle and while off balance, delivered a pass straight onto the chest of a flying Katoa.
While it was Katoa's second try in three minute and put the Sharks within four points of the lead at 22-18, that was where their comeback ended.
Though Josh Morris scored with 90 seconds left, the pass which put him over in the left corner was ruled forward.
"The game was there to be won," Morris said.
"It could have been a much different result there if [that pass] stuck."
Aside from that try assist, Kennedy made 121 metres for the match, 70 of those on kick-returns.
He made six tackles, broke six tackles and also had a line break assist.
The Sharks' next match, which at this stage will be closed to spectators due to the coronavirus, will be played at Jubilee Stadium against Melbourne Storm on Saturday.
