There's no hiding business has dropped off at the cafe but trade hasn't been as bad as some may have thought.
"It's been quite good actually," Brilliant Street Cafe assistant manager Scott Riley said.
"There has been a drop off of course, but we're still going and we can still justify being open.
"We've still got our loyal customers coming, so that's the big reason why we haven't shut."
Brilliant Street Cafe has been popular for workers on the go and there were tables set up in the past for people who preferred sitting down to enjoy a drink or a bite to eat.
Tuesday, March 24, was the first day that the cafe changed up how they operate, with the counter now moved to the front door and dining tables removed to prevent people from congregating inside.
Now customers have to wait outside for their orders.
Mr Riley said the cafe will continue to remain open for as long as possible.
"We're going to stay open for as long as possible or until we're forced to shut or someone shows symptoms of the virus," he said.
"We're taking extra precautions with hygiene and we're encouraging people to use bank cards, although we will still accept cash.
"We're also selling items like packets of coffee beans for people to stock up on if we do have to close."
Some restaurants and cafes haven't been as fortunate as Brilliant Street Cafe, with the likes of Panthers Bathurst, Piccolo's and Jack Duggan's Irish Pub some of the local eateries that have been forced to shut temporarily.
