The October 25 event is still ready to go on its planned date as other events fall by the wayside in the wake of the coronavirus.
Event organiser Stephen Jackson said he's closely monitoring the situation surrounding the virus but is confident at this stage the punish will be good to go this October.
"I'm involved with some of the Covid-19 taskforces in Canberra and the view from epidemiologists in the current situation is that we are heading in the right direction, so we'll be looking to go ahead," he said.
"Unfortunately it's beginning to get a little crowded with UTA - which was supposed to be held now - being pushed back to October, and the City2Surf has just announced they've moved to the 18th of October.
"We stick with our date because it fits in with all the car racing and we've already received 500 entries."
The punish has experienced significant growth over its short three year history but the now-packed schedule of running events might hinder its progress numbers-wise.
But Jackson said the punish has continued to capture the attention of the wider running community, and if people do the right thing it will be back just as strong as ever.
"A month ago we were on track for record numbers but if we can get close to five or six hundred this year we'll be doing well. But we'll be putting it on regardless," he said.
"I still don't think enough people are taking the virus seriously enough, but in saying that a lot of population are, so we're turning things the right way.
"It's an interesting dichotomy, trying to strike a balance between economics and the health of the nation, and we're finding that balance ... and I still think enough people are doing the right thing."
Punish entries can be made online.
