The renovation is seeing John Matthews and Co Pharmacy transform its identity into Capital Chemist Bathurst, which has been the name of the business on paper since co-owners Marcus and Hannah Heiner purchased the store in 2010.
"When we first moved to town we were just a couple of young, inexperienced pharmacists and thought it would be crazy to part with the name John Matthews and all that it represented," Ms Heiner said.
"We now feel we've established our own reputation for high level, patient focused service, so it felt like to right time to renovate and rebrand."
While the store's look is receiving a face-lift, Ms Heiner said customers can expect the same quality service as before.
"We want to reassure customers that, although we may be changing our name, they will be greeted by the same friendly staff and owners each day," she said.
"The renovation has been challenging with the COVID-19 outbreak, but we are incredibly lucky to have such patient and understanding customers."
Long-time John Matthews pharmacist Jessica Morgan-Thomas has recently come on board as a business partner.
