The Bathurst runner, who has frequently finished among towards the head of the field in local events such at the Bathurst Half Marathon and the Edgell Jog, has finally got himself back to full fitness after a lengthy recovery period from Iliotibial band syndrome.
The IT band injury on his left leg was the first major setback of Zawadski's running career and the path back to full pace wasn't an easy one.
"It was around late October I started back slowly getting into it, starting with a slow three kilometres," Zawadski said.
"I'm feeling back to normal now. It's taken so long to get back to a comfortable pace I was at before the injury started.
"I feel like I monitor where the injury was some of the time now since I know where it is. It's why I've continued doing strengthening exercises after my runs to make sure I don't experience the set back like I did when it all happened."
Now that he's back to his regular training regime Zawadski has been able to target particular events this year.
The coronavirus means there's nothing on the horizon in the short term but towards the end of 2020 there's several races penned in the calendar.
"I'm still targeting the the City2Surf which was going to happen in August but got pushed back to October," he said.
"The Sydney marathon is in September but it's on the same date as the Bathurst Edgell jog once again, which is a bit sad since the Edgell Jog was the first race I did when I started running, but I've come to enjoy the longer races over the shorter ones since i don't have the speed for the short races.
"I plan to do the Mount Panorama Punish in October and the Carcoar Cup marathon in November. I was going to do the Great Volcanic Mountain Challenge in Orange in March but it was postponed.
"Due to the uncertainty of what will be held this year it's hard to say what else I'd be able to do.
"I might be planning to do a race over seas at the end of this year if all goes well."
